KOTIK HOMERS OVER THE WALL IN A LOSING CAUSE
PHIL KOTIK hit the first homer of the 2000 season at Riverside in the 7th over the the left
field wall just in fair territory, a 2-run shot bringing Havelock's team closer in a game that started out 9-2 at the end of 2 with
Dave and Havelock pitching. Both teams showed brilliance in defense and some mistakes in field, too. Havelock's team tied the game and went ahead 12-10
after 7-1/2 innings then Dave's team scored 4 in the bottom of the 8th to go ahead 14-12. In the top of the
9th a double play helped Dave get the W.
After the game, some players left but a small number remained to play a home run
derby. In two rounds Balento, D'Allesio, Wager, Hall, Sammi, Schmerler and Halloway slugged at pitches from Rosengard with Debbie at the top of the
wall retrieving the balls. At the end of two rounds Halloway and Wager each had two homers and shared the victory.
