Imaginary Runners at Riverside: It was showering at 9AM but then stopped and we had 11 players so we played Havelock's game (he invented it) with 4 against 4 with 3 players permanently on defense. The players were: Jeff Appell, Joe Balento, Henry Blaukopf, Josh and Joe Geller, Havelock Hewes, Mike Palma, Dave Rosengard, Larry Savell, Gil Schmerler, and Bob Smelker. No stats were kept -- which is too bad because there was a lot of homers, doubles, triples and singles and some outstanding defensive put outs and nailing imaginary runners at 3rd especially the throws from left field by Savell to Rosengard at third and even one to first. We played 2 4-inning games and it was really like batting practice with a game thrown in. The field was in good shape, even home plate. See you next Saturday the 19th of August.
