DOBBS FERRY YANKEES OUTSLUG DOBBS FERRY METS: YANKEES 13, METS 7
The first game was a 9-inning softball game with Jeff Appell facing Havelock Hewes.
It was 12 against 12. Gil captained
the Mets and Havelock captained the Yanks. Before the first pitch we voted to stay at the field near the train station.
I think people did not want to delay the game with a 30 minute move.
HIGHLIGHTS; in the Mets first D'ALLESIO hit a 3 run
homer. Yanks came back later with homers by BALENTO, a 3 run shot and SCHNEIDER, 3 run shot.
LOARTE hit 2 homers and SAVELL homered a solo for the Mets. Havelock got the Win with 3 k's, 1 walk and gave up 9 hits.
Jeff got he Loss, 1 k, 7 walks and gave up 15 hits.
In the 2nd game DAVE ROSENGARD faced GIL SCHMERLER. Dave got knocked out after 2 complete innings and LOARTE finished the game.
It went 7 innings with SCHMERLER going 6 complete innings and HAVELOCK HEWES pitching the 7th in relief.
RESULTS SCHMERLERS TEAM 18, LOARTE TEAM 17.
Gil got the Win and Havelock got the Save and Jorge Loarte got the
loss. HIGHLIGHTS: Rosengard's pitching was not sharp and he gave up 11 runs by the end of the 2nd.
Some were unearned. Jorge held them to 7 more in the next 6 inns. Defense was not so great for Loarte's team;
D'ALLESIO hit a 3 run shot, SCHNEIDER soloed and LOARTE helped himself homering a 2 times
in this nightcap. On GIL'S team ROWLANDS, TOVAR AND BRANCO homered.
The weather was just perfect for October. We had several new players that all played well.
We all had a lot of fun.
LINDA did the scoring as always did a perfect job. Larry brought the bagels and KOTIK probably stayed away to heal his
bruised back injured on the catch of the game OCT 15th.
