WEEK 4 OF THE SEASON MAY 6TH,2001

APPELL WINS IN 6, 18-9
SCHMERLER WINS IN 6, 10-5

On a chilly May morning we started at 8:37 AM with 16 players.  Hewes 2-3 vs. Appell 2-0-1.  Both pitchers came off shutouts on 4/29/00 and they wanted to see how long their shut out innings would last.  Both gave up runs in the first.  Hewes at the top of the inning gave up I believe an unearned run while Appell gave up 6 runs at the bottom of the inning.  At the end of the 4th we moved to the Sun field to finish the game; it's our permit field near the merry go round.  The sun was difficult for the outfield and soon Appell was leading and won the game 18-9.  Highlights: a lot of extra base hits.  Kotik I believe had 2 homers in one inning and 4 RBI in one inning.

In the 2nd game Rosengard 1-3 lost to Schmerler who is now 2-1-1.  Savell hit a towering home run that would have cleared the wall at Riverside Park.  Schmerler pitched well, got a lot of line outs and ground outs.

SEE EVERYONE NEXT WEEK AT THE FIELD FOR WHICH WE HAVE A PERMIT.
