GAME 1: CONNOR'S TEAM 7, HEWES'S TEAM 6

In the first game at Central Park.  Officially it was a triple to right field.  In reality it was a single to right field.  In the top of the ninth Rick Tovar scored from first with the go ahead run on a Joe Balento shot to right field that got past the right fielder who claimed interference with an adjacent softball player.  "It was definitely interference "said Paul Geoghan at right field.  "It is part of the game at Central Park," ruled home plate umpire Phil Kotik.

Game was tied at end of 6 innings.  Appell had control problems in the first 2 innings and Connor's team led 5-0 after 2.  Both teams showed brilliant defense in this thriller.  Naranjo at 3rd made great plays in the 4th inning and Rick Tovar killed a rally making the play of the game by robbing a wicked shot up the middle and acrobatically flipping to 2nd base to make the force.
Offensively both teams were pounding the ball with 28 total hits.  Appell (2-1-1) took the loss walking 3 and striking out 3.
Rosengard (4-4) had no walks and no strike outs.

GAME 2: HEWES 10, SCHMERLER 2 (7 innings)

Gil Schmerler (2-3-1) faced Havelock Hewes (3-3) in 7.  Schmerler gave up 10 hits, striking out 1 and walking 5 in 5 innings.  Hewes gave up 6 hits with 3 strike outs and 1 walk.  Connor pitched the 6th and 7th giving up 4 runs in a mop up role characterized by shaky defense.

GAME 3: SFTLOI 16, 11AM team 3

Eight SFTLOI players faced the 11AM team for a short game.  It was eight against nine.  A 13 run second inning highlighted this game with Bill Vernick and Rich Inserro each making 3 plate appearances in the 2nd inning.  People had to leave so the game ended at 2 innings.
