Rosengard lets one get away with poor control in the 7th

IN THE FIRST GAME JULY 1, 2001 CENTRAL PARK

CONNOR'S TEAM 13 - ROSENGARD'S TEAM 12

Appell was pitching a shutout thru 3 then gave up 9 runs in the fourth and  then Connor's team played catch up till they won the game in the bottom of the 7th. Rosengard's team had 3 homers in the 4th and one homer in the 5th. No homers on Connor's team. In the 4th Vernick connected with a 2 Run HR, Kotik with a 3 Run HR and Zabinsky with a 3 Run HR. In the 5th Tovar hit a solo HR. Blaukopf made a spectacular catch in right field in the first colliding with Dan Honigman but holding on the shut down further damage. 3 run first against a shaky Rosengard. In the 7th Rosengard contributed to the loss with poor control walking in the tying run.Jason Newman and Robert Rodriquez Sr. had high RBI count and Appell went 3 for 4. There were 6 players making their debut for the 2001 season as follows: Kevin Mack, Heather Puglisi, Jay Zabinsky, Jeff Fogel, John Eng, Jason Newman. Here is the line score

APPELL PICKED UP THE W FOR SBFTLOI AND HERSFORD TOOK THE L IN 7.

HIGHLIGHTS: LUKE WORDLEY A BRITISH TOURIST JOINED THE GAME PLAYING CENTERFIELD WITHOUT A GLOVE AND KNOCKED IN 3 RUNS. HE IS A LEFTY CRICKET PLAYER IN ENGLAND AND EASILY PLAYED SOFTBALL FOR THE FIRST TIME. HE OVERRAN THE BAG AT SECOND BASE AFTER HE CONNECTED WITH THE FIRST PITCH WITH A DOUBLE DOWN THE RIGHT FIELD LINE. HEWES PITCHED FOR THE WENDY'S AND WAS PULLED AFTER ONE AND HERSFORD A BIG LEFT HANDER WENT THE REST OF THE WAY.
